Dumbbell Workouts

Get A Superior Dumbbell Workout

Superior Dumbbell WorkoutIf you're going to use dumbbells to build a fit and strong body, I suggest getting the Superior Dumbbell Workout e-book.  It's available for immediate download.  You might as well learn how to use them right as dumbbells are underused or misused by the majority of exercisers.  Don't miss out on the tremendous muscle building, fat burning and cardio-respiratory conditioning benefits real dumbbell training produces.

If you're sitting on the fence as to whether or not dumbbells are right for you, picture this...  With the best of intentions you decide to tone and sculpt your arms and shoulders for bathing suit season or that hot little spaghetti strap dress.  You head to a sporting goods store to checkout the selection of dumbbells.

I’m not a big fan of weights because they, well, weigh a lot, they’re bulky, little kids have to be kept away from them, and they’re painful to trip over in the dark.

pile of dumbbellsTraditionally, dumbbells are usually purchased in pairs, one for each hand and they come in varying weights.  As your arms adapt and no further benefit is had from the 3 lb weight, you advance to the 5 lb dumbbell, then the 7 lb, then the 10 lb…you get the picture.  If you didn’t start out with a full set, you’ll soon have one.   On average, they cost about $1/pound each.

As an example, let’s say you purchase a pair of each of the following at about a $1/lb.

5 lb x 2 = $10
7 lb x 2 = $14
13 lb x 2 = $26
19 lb x 2 = $38

That's a total of $88 and you now have a bulky 88 lbs of weight laying around or stacked in some corner.  And because you’re working out faithfully and have graduated from one level to the next, you find you don’t need the other lesser weights so you hide them in a closet.  As time goes by they become the butt of jokes when you move from dorm to dorm, apartment to apartment or house to house.  continued below...

Using the example above, the most resistance you’ll have for any one arm is 19 lbs because you can’t hold more than one dumbbell per hand.  Also, if you’re like most people, you know how to do only two exercises with dumbbells, arm curls and over-head lifts.  That’s a pretty limited repertoire.

Dumbbells don’t travel easily, either.  They’re heavy and that’s a serious portability issue come vacation time or frequent business trips.  Can you imagine traveling with dumbbells in your luggage?  You may find yourself skipping workouts because of it.

Or, Resist Dumbbells - Train with Tubes

Bodylastics Resistance TubesWhy not trade in your dumbbells or the notion of buying dumbbells in for resistance tubes?  That dumbbell example above with only 19 lbs of resistance can be converted into 88 lbs of resistance, a workout manual with 140 strength training exercises, handles, ankle straps, an over the door anchor and a carry bag for about half the price.

Unlike dumbbells, you’ll be able to carry the entire set of resistance tubes in a backpack, gym bag or briefcase and hardly know they’re there because they’re so light weight.  You’ll never have to leave your workout equipment at home again.

Challenging Workouts

Sample resistance tube exercisesMultiple tubes can be clipped onto a handle and combined to make even more resistance.  Remember those unused dumbbells that you outgrew and are now sitting in the closet?  There’s no way that can happen with resistance tubes.  With so many combinations of resistance available in one set of tubes, you’ll always be challenged.

Here’s the best part, you can get a complete, total body workout with resistance tubes from your shoulders, all the way down through the arms, abs, chest, back and legs.  Try doing that with dumbbells.

In fact, professional athletes, trainers, the U.S. Military, law enforcement agencies, including S.W.A.T. have added resistance tubes strength training to their workout programs.

Resistance Tubes Make Great Gifts

Don’t just think about yourself, either.  Resistance tubes are perfect for the entire family and they make great holiday gifts for the fitness buffs on your list.

So if you’ve “weighing” the notion of working out with dumbbells, give resistance tubes a try.  They’re available in three difference sets of tension, Basic, Max, and Super Strong Man for 88, 134, and 254 pounds of resistance.  Additional bands and accessories are also available.
