I started Judo about 3 years ago. I did it for about 5 months and got to Yellow belt. The distance to Judo was too much, got too burned out on martial arts in general, so, I quit.

But, now I’m getting back into it. I’m not in good shape and struggle a bit through the workouts. Anybody recommend a basic workout routine I can start out with to get into shape for it?

Well i try lift weights everyday and my schedule goes like this:

Monday- Back
Tuesday- Chest
Thursday-Triceps
Friday- Shoulders

all the workouts go great except back. i never seem to feel a burn. is this how its supposed to be? any tips or good excercises? thanks!!

Answer: You’re missing some information. How much weight? How many reps? How many sets? And what exercises? Oh, what equipment, exactly?

Skip the weights and get a set of these: Bodylastics resistance bands so you can do they following back exercises:

Reverse forward lat extension

One arm kneeling lat pull

Side lat extension

I am a 26 year old male who exercises very regularly so am in very good shape overall. However, I often have lower back pains primarily when doing ab workouts. My back also aches from inactivity (sitting around too much). My back has always ached and burned for as long as I can remember.

Answer: How’s your form? Are you arching your back? When exercising, knees should be soft (slightly bent, not straight) and the pelvis should be tucked, do not arch your back. Arching the back will cause major pain in the lower back. Click here for free workouts from Bodylastics. They have 10 different exercise shows at the moment. Take a look at Eight Pack for ab workouts and

It should be a long and detailed workout with only props you can find around the house. Something like the workouts you would see in 17 magazine. I’m working on an 8 pack so it can be a pretty difficult workout. Please and thank you! :]

Answer: To do the most effective ab exercises, you need some form of resistance. For example, doing a bunch of situps soon turns in to 20, 30, 40…a bazillion. Why? Because they don’t offer enough resistance and you end up doing more of them. That’s not an efficient/effective way to workout. Exercising longer is a waste of time. What you want to do is increase the resistance when the going gets too easy.

That’s where Bodylastics fitness tubes come in, like the ones shown below. In fact, Bodylastics as a free workout show called Eight Pack. You can do about 3 circuits with only a few reps each. When it gets too easy, then increase the resistance by combining the tubes. They have clips on the end so you can configure them any way you like/need. By increasing the resistance and NOT the time exercising, your workouts remain short. Bodylastics has 10 different free workout shows in all that you can do at home.

Answer: The Bodylastics resistance bands people have some free workout shows that you can do with their bands. One of the shows is called Eight Pack, specifically for abs. The trainer’s name is Scott. I’ve watched the show a few times and I do remember him doing ab exercises that did NOT bend/arch your back. He did movements where he bent at the waist and ones with the bands on his legs, he’s on all 4 and he’s pulling his legs up to his chest all while keeping a straight back. Get yourself a set of Bodylastics and click here for their free workouts.
