I have a chest exercisers with 5 rubber resistance  bands (some are the metallic spring type). They are not cracking yet, but they are starting to become chalky from usage. They’re cheap yes, but I want to prolong the life of the bands. What can I use to lubricate them? Can any home remedies such as baby oil be used? Thanks!

Answer:  DO NOT LUBRICATE RUBBER ANYTHING!  Oils deteriorate rubber.  If you don’t like the chalky look, just take a damp rag and wipe them.  Don’t use anything but plain bottled water to avoid the chlorine in drinking water because chlorine will do a number on them, too.
