Which Resistance Bands Should I Get For P90X?

Q:  I’m about to start P90X and I need to know which resistance bands I should get?  Anyway, looking through the BeachBody website gearing up for P90X, I’m trying to figure out which weighted resistance bands I should get. With dumbbells, I can bench press a max of 45 lbs. Does this mean I should get the extreme set as linked here: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_gear/p90x_gear/extreme_kit.do OR should I aim to get lower resistance bands? What would you guys recommend?  I weigh 145pounds, and 5’7

A:  Do NOT get those BeachBody resistance bands.  BeachBody not only makes the P90X workout program, but also several others like The 10-Minute Trainer.  There are nothing but complaints about their resistance bands breaking.  Read this article about 10-Minute Trainer Resistance Bands.  It will save you a lot of money and grief.

Can you build muscle ONLY by using resistance bands?

I’m 15 and all I have at home are resistance bands. I would prefer weights, but it’s I I have. Do you think they will get me anywhere and build up my biceps/triceps/chest or do you think it may take just entirely too long?

Resistance Bands: Get Stronger and Cut

Q: Will resistance  bands help me get stronger and more cut?  Cause right now I have stick arms; thunder thighs (not really but they aren’t firm at all [lol]); a flabby stomach (well not really flabby i just have a little fat covering my abs); and weak calves.  Will resistance  bands help me? I saw this one video on YouTube where this guy got RIPPED using them and I’m not necessarily looking for ripped just a little bigger and a good bit stronger.  I don’t want to do weights because I’m too cheap to pay for them. Lol. Bodylastics Resistance Tubes - Family Pack - 388 lbs of tension

A:  Resistance  bands will most definitely help you get stronger, along with eating right and getting enough protein to build muscle.  Don’t forget the protein so the muscle doesn’t end up eating itself for fuel.  The more muscle you have, the faster the flab will melt off.  Building muscle is also the secret to fast weight loss because each pound of muscle can burn up to 50 calories per day just to survive.  I’ve seen some of those YouTube videos where guys are ripped from using only bands.  WOW!  Nice, very nice.  My advice is to find a workout program that’s already set up and all you have to do is follow along.  Lucky for you (you said you were cheap), it’s free.  The name of the online workout show is called Chiseled and it’s developed by the Bodylastics resistance bands people.  Click here for Chiseled and other:  free workouts

Now, for equipment.  Don’t worry, it’s cheap.  You can get a complete set of Bodylastics for $45.95.  That includes 4 bands, a door anchor, handles, ankle/wrist straps, travel bag, and workout guide.  But you always get the free online workouts so you have a workout partner.  Where ever you have a computer with internet access, you’ll be able to login and do your workouts from anywhere in the world.  But since you’re cheap, you never go anywhere, so your stuck working out at home.  :)   Just kidding!

The neatest thing about Bodylastics is that they are adjustable because they have clips on the ends of the tubes, unlike other bands that have handles attached.  That means you can:  combine the bands for custom tension levels so you can progressively get stronger.  Plus, different muscle groups need more or less tension so you certainly don’t want to have one of those ”one band fits all” type of set-ups.

P90X Workout: Are these resistance bands ok?

I’m about to begin the P90X routine and am gathering the equipment I will need. I am on a tight budget so I have decided to go with resistance bands rather than weights. I’m 6’3” 200lbs. Will a set such as this work for me?

http://www.buy.com/prod/new-heavy-duty-b-m-p-doorway-chin-up-pull-up-bar-and-new-b-m-p/q/sellerid/29673589/loc/68687/218864205.html

If not, do you have any other suggestions in a similar price range?

Thanks.

What type of resistance bands do I need for P90X?

I will be starting P90X at the end of this month (I am currently doing the Shaun T. Insanity program), and want to know what type of resistance bands I am going to need (I don’t have enough to buy a full set of dumbells, though I already have a couple of 30 and 20 pound dumbells to get me started)

I am 15 and gain muscle easily, and I am pretty bulky as far as muscle goes.  So based on that, what type of resistance bands would I need, as far as resistance goes (20lb, 30lb, 50lb etc.)

Resistance Bands, An Effective Alternative To Lifting Weights

I am interested in using resistance bands instead of weights in my workouts. I’ve seen the bowflex comercials and what not but I would love to hear from real people who use resistance bands. I’m looking to elongate my muscles and physique by using the bands and doing bodyfow ( a form of yoga). I also plan to start Thai boxing so I would like to have a lean, yet powerful body that is flexible and can move with ease and grace. Weights are ok, but I feel heavy and sluggish after workouts and I want to feel light and fast. I’ve done some research and I’ve heard great things but I would love to hear some comments from users. I would actually like to alleviate weight altogether. Although there are some exercises I like that build testosterone, if I can find ways to do that with resistance bands, so long weights. Any advice would be appreciated.
