Resistance Bands For P90X: B-LINES vs. Bodylastics
Are your doing the P90X workout and now face the tough decision of getting resistance bands or dumbbells? Obviously you want great results or you wouldn’t have accepted the P90X challenge to begin with, so why take shortcuts on the equipment you choose?
Dumbbells have a narrow range of motion and are confined to only working out the upper body. What about the rest of your body, your abs, legs and back?
Resistance bands are capable of working out the entire body and at multiple angles and levels, but only if you get the proper bands.
The P90X program suggests using the B-LINES bands. Let’s see how they stack up against Bodylastics bands.
B-LINES Super Kit:
- 3 Bands
- 4 Handles
- 20 to 40 lbs resistance
- $39.95
Bodylastics Basic Tension Set:
- 5 Bands
- 2 Handles
- 5 to 88 lbs resistance
- 2 Ankle/Wrist Straps
- 1 Non-Marring door anchor
- 1 Workout Book
- 1 Travel Bag
- Strength Band University Membership
- $49.95
The Bodylastics set is far superior in a number of ways. Here are just a few.
- Notice the bands. They have sturdy adjustable aluminum clips on the end. This allows you to combine multiple bands for custom resistance levels. We do the math for you when you download the free chart on the right side of this page to find out how to combine the bands.
- So what do the clips attach to? Your choice of handles or ankle/wrist straps. The B-LINES set only has handles so they’re really no better than dumbbells. You’ll be stuck with a limited range of motion restricted to upper body exercises. Their bands can’t be combined for more resistance when your muscles adapt to a single resistance level band.
- The Bodylastics door anchor allows you to perform exercises at multiple levels – overhead, at chest level and ground level. You’ll be able to do chest presses, triceps extensions, ab crunches, lat extensions, chest flys, ab twists, wood chops, side bends, back rows, leg extensions, hip extensions, calf raises, shoulder pulls, rotator cuff exercises, high kicks, shuffles and more.
- The ankle strap allows you to connect the bands to your ankles for leg work. Can’t do that with the B-LINES set.
